Description

The Parameters subkey stores general configuration data for the Windows Internet Name Service (WINS), that is, configuration data that is not related to replicating the WINS database.

WINS associates IP addresses to more familiar DNS and NetBios computer names. WINS enables users to find computer resources by their familiar names, instead of requiring them to use IP addresses.
