Identify or transfer the schema master role

To identify or transfer the schema master role

  1. Open ADAM Schema.

  2. On the Action menu, click Change ADAM Server.

  3. In ADAM server, specify the DNS name, network basic input/output system (NetBIOS) name, or Internet Protocol (IP) address of an ADAM instance in the configuration set for which you want to identify or transfer the schema master role.

  4. In Port, type the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) port number of the ADAM instance to which you want to connect.

  5. Under Connect using these credentials, do one of the following, and then click OK:

    • Click The account of the currently logged on user.

    • Click This account, and then select or type the user name and password of the account with which you want to connect.

  6. In the console tree, right-click ADAM Schema, and then click Operations Master.

  7. Do one of the following:

    • To identify the current schema master, note the ADAM instance that is listed in Current Schema Master.

    • To transfer the schema master role to the currently targeted ADAM instance, click Change.

Notes

  • To open the ADAM Schema snap-in, click Start, point to All Programs, point to ADAM, and then click ADAM Schema. If the ADAM Schema snap-in is not installed, see Related Topics.

  • Each configuration set has only one schema master. To identify the schema master in a different configuration set, target the appropriate configuration set before clicking Operations Master.

  • For help with dsmgmt, type ? at a dsmgmt prompt.
