Encrypting File System Technical Reference

Encrypting File System (EFS) is a Microsoft technology that makes it possible for users to encrypt files on their computers and control who can decrypt or recover these files. When data is encrypted, it cannot be read or modified by intruders, even if they gain physical access to the hard disk on a computer.
