Description: Remote Administration Service is responsible for performing the following remote administration tasks when Windows Server 2003 restarts:

Increment the server boot count.

Send an alert when the computer is running a backup of the operating system.

Generate a self-signed certificate.

Send an alert if the date and time has not been set on the computer.

Send an alert if Alert E-mail functionality has not been configured.
Remote Administration Service starts performing the appropriate tasks when requested by the Remote Server Manager service through a COM interface. Remote Administration Service runs in the LocalSystem account and accepts requests through the COM interface only from clients running under the Administrators or LocalSystem accounts.
If the startup type is set to Manual, the service will start when it receives a request from the Remote Server Manager service; it can be subsequently stopped without affecting any server functionality.
If this service is stopped or disabled, some remote administration tools or features might not function properly, such as the Web interface for remote administration.
