Forced Hardware

Forced Hardware is located in the Hardware Resources category in System Information. The Device column in the details pane identifies the type of device. The PNP Device ID column lists the device ID.

Forced hardware is any device that you have to configure manually or that has user-specified resources, as opposed to system-specified resources. The category Forced Hardware also applies to devices that are not Plug and Play compatible, such as legacy Industry Standard Architecture (ISA) devices.

If there is a conflict with a manually configured hardware device, use Device Manager to locate and troubleshoot the problem. For more information about Device Manager, see Device Manager.
