Description: The Windows Management Instrumentation Driver Extensions service monitors all drivers and event trace providers that are configured to publish WMI or event trace information.

Note
In Windows Server 2003, the Windows Management Instrumentation Driver Extensions service is primarily a stub service that was created to deal with Windows 2000 service compatibility issues.

If this service is stopped or disabled, any services that explicitly depend on it will fail to start.
