MaxRpcSize

HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print

Data type Range Default value

REG_DWORD

0x0–0xFFFFFFFF (in bytes)

1048576 (1 MB)

Description

Specifies the maximum size, in bytes, of incoming data blocks from a remote procedure call (RPC).

This entry does not exist in the registry by default. You can add it by using the registry editor Regedit.exe.

Activation Method

To make changes to the value of this entry effective, you must restart the Print Spooler service.

Caution

  • This entry can help prevent malicious denial-of-service attacks. If the data block of a remote procedure call (RPC) is larger than the value of this entry, the RPC run-time library rejects the call and sends an error message to the client. However, if you set the value of this entry to 0xFFFFFFFF, the limit on the size of incoming data blocks is removed, and your system is more vulnerable to attack.
