SecurePipeServers

HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control

Description

The SecurePipeServers subkey contains the winreg subkey, which controls remote access to the registry. If these subkeys do not appear in the registry, then the permissions set in each registry subkey determine the remote access to the registry.

Change Method

To change the permissions set for the SecurePipeServers subkey, use the registry editor Regedit.exe. On the Edit menu, click Permissions.

Note

  • Remote registry security and the functions of the SecurePipeServers and winreg registry subkeys are included in Windows Server 2003 and Microsoft Windows XP Professional. However, they are only enabled by default on Windows Server 2003. If you add these subkeys to the registry of a computer running Microsoft Windows XP Professional, it will operate as described.
