Providing client access to the local file system

On Windows Server 2003 family operating systems, Terminal Services provides client drive redirection, making the local file system available on the remote desktop within a Terminal Services session. If drive redirection is specified, client drives appear in Windows Explorer with the designation "tsclient <driveletter>".

When you install Terminal Server, client drive mapping is disabled by default. To enable this feature, use Terminal Services Group Policies or the Terminal Services Configuration tool.
