Executable Name: Sqladhlp.exe

Log On As: LocalSystem

Description: The MSSQLServerADHelper service enables SQL Server and Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services to publish information in Active Directory when the services are not running under the LocalSystem account.

There is only one instance of MSSQLServerADHelper service on a computer. All instances of SQL Server and Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services use it when needed.MSSQLServerADHelper is not a server service and does not service requests from the client. The service does not use a User Datagram Protocol (UDP) or TCP port.

This service cannot be stopped. This service is dynamically started by an instance of SQL Server or Analysis Manager when needed, and is stopped as soon as it has completed its work. This service should always be run from the LocalSystem account and should not be started manually from a console.

If this service is disabled, it might affect adding, updating, or deleting SQL Server–related Active Directory objects if MSSQLSERVER service is not running under LocalSystem.

Available on: Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition; Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition; Windows Server 2003, Datacenter Edition and Windows Server 2003, Web Edition.

Installed through: Add/Remove Windows Components and UDDI Services.
