System Monitor Tool

Updated: August 22, 2005

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 with SP1

System Monitor is part of the Performance snap-in, which is accessible through Administrative Tools. When generating a performance log for troubleshooting, add, at a minimum, the following counter objects:

  • .NET CLR (Common Language Runtime)

  • Active Server Pages (ASP)

  • ASP.NET

  • Memory

  • Process

  • Processor

  • Thread

  • Web Service

Alternatively, you can observe real-time data on the display, if doing so meets your troubleshooting needs.

For information about starting System Monitor, and selecting performance objects and counters, see Viewing Counter Data in the Performance Console.
