Installer Subkey

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

Installer

HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows

Description

The Installer subkey stores the entries created when you configure a Group Policy setting for Windows Installer. Group Policy creates and maintains these entries, and Windows Installer reads and interprets them.

This subkey stores policy-related entries that are configured separately for each user. The system adds these entries to the registry when you enable (and, for some policies, when you disable) a policy in the User Configuration folder in Group Policy.

There is also an Windows\Installer Subkey subkey in the Policies subkey in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE subtree, which stores entries for policies that apply to all users of the computer. The system adds these entries to the registry when you enable (and, for some policies, when you disable) a policy in the Computer Configuration folder in Group Policy.

Change Method

To add, remove, or change the value of entries in this subkey, use Group Policy.
