Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

To highlight counter data

  1. Open Performance.

  2. In the legend, click the counter you want to highlight.

  3. Click the Highlight button, or press CTRL+H.

Notes

  • Performing this task does not require you to have administrative credentials. Therefore, as a security best practice, consider performing this task as a user without administrative credentials.

  • To open Performance, click Start, click Control Panel, double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Performance.

  • When you highlight a counter, a thick line replaces the colored chart line. For white or light-colored backgrounds (defined by the Graph Background property), this line is black; for other backgrounds, this line is white.

  • When using the System Monitor control in an application that supports Active-X controls, note that the CTRL+H combination used for System Monitor highlighting may conflict with the default key settings in the application. You may need to change the default key settings to support highlighting when you use the System Monitor control (Sysmon.ocx in the systemroot\System32 folder) in other applications.

Information about functional differences

  • Your server might function differently based on the version and edition of the operating system that is installed, your account permissions, and your menu settings. For more information, see Viewing Help on the Web.
