Rebuilding the NNTP Service

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 with SP1

You can fix several common problems with the NNTP service by rebuilding it. Rebuild the NNTP service when:

  • The virtual server does not start.

  • You delete internal newsgroup files accidentally.

  • You recover the system after a disk failure occurs.

  • Users cannot gain access to articles that they are authorized to read.

  • An error message that is written to the Event Viewer system log tells you to rebuild the server.
