Permissions Tools

The following tools are associated with permissions.

Permcopy.exe: Share Permissions Copy

Category

This tool is included in Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit Tools.

Version compatibility

This tool is compatible with computers running Windows XP Professional or Windows Server 2003.

Share Permissions Copy is a command-line tool that copies share-level permissions (Full Control, Read, and Change) from one share to another.

Perms.exe: User File Permissions Tool

This tool is included in Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit Tools.

The User File Permissions Tool is a command-line tool that displays user access permissions for a file or directory on an NTFS file system volume. It queries the permissions that are associated with a specific access control entry (ACE), displaying only the permissions that are granted by that particular ACE.

Takeown.exe: Take Ownership
