1

Description

Specifies which events the Performance Library records in the Application Log in Event Viewer.

Value Meaning

0

No recording.

1

Errors only.

2

Errors and warnings.

3

Errors, warnings, information, and success/failure conditions.

Consider increasing the value of this entry if you are encountering problems starting or running a performance tool. If you find Perflib errors in the Application Log, increase this value again to record more detail on future errors.

This entry does not exist in the registry by default. You can add it by using the registry editor Regedit.exe.

Activation Method

To make changes to this entry effective, either restart the Remote Registry Service or restart Windows.

Note

  • If a remote computer is using System Monitor to monitor the local computer, you must restart Windows on the local computer and stop and restart System Monitor on the remote computer before changes to this entry take effect.

Tip

  • If you cannot display particular performance counters, check the Application Log in Event Viewer for events recorded by Perflib. When Perflib finds a disabling error in a performance counter dynamic-link library (DLL), it records an event in the log. Then it sets the value of the Disable Performance Counters entry to 1 to disable the counters.
