Disable Network Adapters

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 with SP1
To ensure that clients cannot connect to the Web server while it is being upgraded, disable the network adapter that connects the Web server to the clients before taking it offline for the upgrade.
Credentials: Membership in the Administrators group on the local computer.
Click Start, click Settings, and then click Network Connections.
Locate the network adapter that connects the Web server to the clients.
Right-click the network adapter, and then click Disable.
In Control Panel, double-click Network.
On the Bindings tab, click the network adapter, click Disable, and then click OK.
