Set a new security template path

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

To set a new security template path

  1. Open Security Templates.

  2. In the console tree, right-click Security Templates, click New Template Search Path, and select the new location.

    A folder with the path of the new location appears in the console tree.

  3. (Optional) To add a description to the new template path (in addition to the name), in the console tree, right-click the new template folder, click Set Description, and then type the description you want to add.

Notes

  • Performing this task does not require you to have administrative credentials. Therefore, as a security best practice, consider performing this task as a user without administrative credentials.

  • To open Security Templates, click Start, and click Run, then type mmc and click OK. On the File menu, click Open, click the MMC console that you want to open, then click Open. Then, in the console tree, click Security Templates.
