filescrn filegroup add /filegroup:<FgName> /members:<Members>    [/nonmembers:<NonMembers>] [/remote:<ComputerName>]

Parameter Description

/filegroup:<FgName>

Creates a file group with name FgName. If the group name contains a space, enclose the name in quotation marks.

/members:<Members>

Specifies file name patterns that are included in the file group (members).

Members is a list of one or more file name patterns. If the list contains more than one file name pattern, enclose Members in quotation marks and separate patterns with a pipe character (|). You can use wildcard characters in file name patterns.

/nonmembers:<NonMembers>

Specifies file name patterns that are excluded from the file group (nonmembers).

NonMembers is a list of one or more file name patterns. If the list contains more than one file name pattern, enclose NonMembers in quotation marks and separate patterns with a pipe character (|). You can use wildcard characters in file name patterns.

/remote:<ComputerName>

Performs the operation on the remote computer ComputerName.

  • The shortest sequence of characters that uniquely identifies a parameter can be used as an abbreviation. For example, the following two commands are equivalent:

    filescrn f a /f:"Log Files" /m:*.log
filescrn filegroup add /filegroup:"Log Files" /members:*.log

  • To perform operations on a remote computer by using the /remote:ComputerName parameter:

    • You must be logged on with a domain account that is a member of the Administrators group on both the local computer and the remote computer.

    • The remote computer must be running Windows Server 2008, and File Server Resource Manager must be installed.

    • The Remote File Server Resource Manager Management exception on the remote computer must be enabled. You enable this exception by using Windows Firewall in Control Panel.

  • To create a file group named Log Files that includes the file name patterns *.log and *.history, type:

filescrn filegroup add /filegroup:"Log Files" /members:"*.log|*.history"
