Site and site collection administration (SharePoint Server 2010)

Published: May 12, 2010

A Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 site collection is a hierarchical site structure that is made up of one top-level site and sites below it. This top-level Web site can have multiple subsites, and each subsite can have multiple subsites, for as many levels as required. Top-level Web sites and subsites allow different levels of control over the features and settings for sites.
