Exchange-Specific Steps: Update the Exchange Configuration and Restart Exchange Servers

Updated: October 15, 2008

Applies To: Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2

You can use this procedure to update the Exchange configuration and restart Exchange servers for a domain rename operation. If the domain contains servers running Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1), before you continue with step 9, run the Exchange Domain Rename Fix-up Tool (XDR-fixup). Then, restart all the servers running Exchange twice. For more information, see Microsoft Exchange Server Domain Rename Fixup (XDR-Fixup) (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=123144).

ImportantImportant
The Windows Server 2008 domain rename operation is not supported in an Active Directory forest that contains Exchange Server 2003, Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2), Exchange Server 2007, or Exchange Server 2007 SP1.
