Product keys and virtual keys are 25-character keys that are used to activate the software. Windows® Small Business Server 2008 product keys vary by software edition and type of operating system environment. Depending on the version of Windows SBS 2008 that you purchased, your product key is located on a sticker on the product packing or on a product key card.

If you purchased your server from an original equipment manufacturer (OEM), your server may have been pre-activated. However, if you need to enter your product key, the product key is provided on the Certificate of Authenticity (COA) sticker on your server. For Windows SBS 2008 Standard, the physical and virtual keys are both located on the COA. For Windows SBS 2008 Premium, the physical keys are on the COA and virtual product keys along with keys that are required for SQL Server are provided with the packaging materials on a product key card.

You do not need to use DVD 2 to install Windows SBS 2008. DVD 2 contains tools that you can use to repair your Windows SBS 2008 software, and does not require a product key. This key will only unlock Microsoft SQL Server 2008 for Small Business Standard Edition. It will not unlock Microsoft SQL Server Standard Edition.

We bought a HP ProLiant having Win SBS 2008 server on it but no CD or other keys were handed to us. $0I had to reinstall Win SBS 2008 from scratch and I could use the key labeled from the machine itself.$0 $0Now I need to reinstall SQL Server 2008, what key should I use?

Read the article again and saw that Windows 2008 Standard, has only two keys, that answered my question

Is it possible to buy an additional Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Standard Edition for Small Business - License and media - 5 CALs - OEM - DVD - Win - English and put it on the 2nd server, so you can have SQL Server running on both?

what about additional CAL's? I bought 10 additional, got the keys, but, what to do with them? any installation needed?

SBS client cals do not get entered into any console. Just keep them in a safe place.
