The Microsoft® Windows Server® 2008 Active Directory® Federation Services Management Pack for Operations Manager 2005 monitors the health of the Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS) role services that are available in Microsoft Windows Server 2008. You can use this management pack to manage AD FS and to avoid costly service outages that might be caused by AD FS not working properly. The AD FS Management Pack includes a set of views, and it provides monitoring for the following role services:

  • Federation Service
  • Federation Service Proxy
  • AD FS Web Agents
    • Claims-aware Agent
    • Windows® Token-based Agent

The AD FS Management Pack detects issues with health and availability, and it provides alerts for those issues. In some cases, it can identify issues before they become critical, providing you with a level of responsiveness that increases the overall availability and performance of your Windows operating system. As a result, this management pack reduces the cost of ownership by enabling proactive management and by reducing the resolution time for the identified issues.
