Troubleshooting Reports: Publishing or Viewing a Report on a Report Server in SharePoint Integrated Mode

When you publish or upload a report to a report server configured in SharePoint integrated mode, you might see issues that are specific to the report server. Use this topic to help troubleshoot these issues.

I cannot connect to a report server configured in SharePoint Integrated mode.

The URL for the report server could not be found on the network. You might see the message: A connection could not be made to the report server.

The Server Name Must Be a Fully Qualified URL

To deploy a report to a report server, you must specify the address of the SharePoint server or a site on the server.

Verify that the report server URL is the address of the SharePoint server or a site on the SharePoint server (for example, https://server or https://server/site), not the address of a folder on the site (for example, https://server/Shared%20Documents).

I cannot specify a model as a data source.

The URL for the report model could not be found on the network.

The Report Model Name Must Be a Fully Qualified URL

To specify a report model on a report server configured in SharePoint integrated mode, you must specify the fully qualified URL for the model on the SharePoint server or a site on the server.

Verify that the report model URL is a fully-qualified address, for example, https://server/site/Documents/AdventureWorks.smdl.

Actions are supported for reports that are published to a report server configured in SharePoint integrated mode. However, all report actions, images, and subreports must use fully-qualified URLs to specify the drillthrough reports, subreports, or images that are available on the SharePoint site.

Actions Do Not Specify Fully-qualified URLs for Drillthrough Reports, Images, and Subreports

When you author a local report on your computer, you must specify local drillthrough report names, subreport names, and image names in order to test interactive features when you preview the report locally.

Before you publish the report to a report server configured in SharePoint integrated mode, you must change each drillthrough action, subreport, or image, to specify a fully-qualified URL for the report or image, including the file type. For example, https://servername/site/Documents/TargetReport.rdl.

Note

If you write an expression-based report action, remember to include the file extension rdl.

Verify that in the main report, all drillthrough reports, subreports, and image references specify a fully qualified URL to the location of each item on the SharePoint site. After you make these changes, you must publish the target reports, subreports, and images to the SharePoint site. After you publish these items, you can test the links in the main report in local preview. For more information, see Publishing Data Sources and Reports to a SharePoint Site.
