How to Move a Host Cluster to a Different Host Group

Applies To: Virtual Machine Manager 2008, Virtual Machine Manager 2008 R2, Virtual Machine Manager 2008 R2 SP1

Use the following procedure to move a host cluster to a different host group. Host clusters must be moved as a unit; you cannot move individual hosts out of a cluster. A VMware host cluster cannot be moved out of its parent host group.

Important

If the cluster is used for virtual machine self-service, moving the cluster can cause service disruption for self-service users. To avoid service disruptions, review the self-service user roles for the host group containing the cluster and notify the users in advance.
