0x258 ( 600 seconds = 10 minutes )

Determines how long a memory cache in the client computer saves Domain Name System (DNS) records that the Net Logon service registers.

DNS records registered by Net Logon are not cached.

Specifies the maximum time that DNS records registered by Net Logon are saved in the cache.

This value applies to all records, regardless of how frequently or how recently the records might be referenced. It ensures that client records are always current.

Windows 2000 does not add this entry to the registry. You can add it by editing the registry or by using a program that edits the registry.

Tip Image Tip

Increasing the value of this entry might improve performance. However, if this value is too large, the DNS records might not be updated often enough.
