Description
Deletes the contents of the
Documents
menu when the user logs off.
The
Documents
menu contains shortcuts to the non-program files the user opened most recently.
This entry stores the setting of the
Clear history of recently opened documents on exit
Group Policy. Group Policy adds this entry to the registry with a value of 1 when you enable the policy. If you disable the policy or set it to
Not configured,
Group Policy deletes this entry from the registry, and the system behaves as though the value is 0.

You can use the
Clear history of recently opened documents on exit
policy, in coordination with the
Remove Documents menu from Start Menu
Group Policy (
NoRecentDocsMenu
) and the
Do not keep history of recently opened documents
Group Policy (
NoRecentDocsHistory
) to manage access to recently opened files. The system uses this entry only when neither of these related entries is set to 1.
Change method
To change the value of this entry, use Group Policy. This entry corresponds to the
Clear history of recently opened documents on exit
Group Policy (User Configuration\AdministrativeTemplates\Start Menu & Taskbar).
