Description

Deletes the contents of the Documents menu when the user logs off.

The Documents menu contains shortcuts to the non-program files the user opened most recently.

This entry stores the setting of the Clear history of recently opened documents on exit Group Policy. Group Policy adds this entry to the registry with a value of 1 when you enable the policy. If you disable the policy or set it to Not configured, Group Policy deletes this entry from the registry, and the system behaves as though the value is 0.

Value

Meaning

0 (or not in the registry)

The policy is disabled or not configured. Shortcuts in the Documents menu are saved when the user logs off, and they are available again when the user logs on.

1

The policy is enabled. The Documents menu is emptied when the user logs off.

You can use the Clear history of recently opened documents on exit policy, in coordination with the Remove Documents menu from Start Menu Group Policy ( NoRecentDocsMenu ) and the Do not keep history of recently opened documents Group Policy ( NoRecentDocsHistory ) to manage access to recently opened files. The system uses this entry only when neither of these related entries is set to 1.

Change method

To change the value of this entry, use Group Policy. This entry corresponds to the Clear history of recently opened documents on exit Group Policy (User Configuration\AdministrativeTemplates\Start Menu & Taskbar).
