How to Save a Guest Operating System Profile While Creating a Template

Applies To: Virtual Machine Manager 2008, Virtual Machine Manager 2008 R2, Virtual Machine Manager 2008 R2 SP1

Use the following procedure to save a guest operating system profile based on the settings that you configure while creating a virtual machine template.

To save a guest operating system profile

  1. On the Guest Operating System page of the New Template Wizard, click Save as to open the New Guest OS Profile dialog box.

  2. Click the General tab and enter a name and description of the guest operating system profile and specify the owner. The owner must have an Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) account.

  3. Click the Guest OS tab and edit the guest operating system settings that were imported from the template that you are creating. For details, see How to Customize the Operating System of a Virtual Machine.

  4. When you finish configuring the guest operating system settings, click OK to save the new profile and return to the Guest Operating System wizard page.

  5. If you want to import the settings from the new profile into the template that you are creating, select the profile in the Guest Operating System Profile list.
