Error Message:

The Cluster service could not join an existing cluster and could not form a new cluster. The Cluster service has terminated.

Explanation:

A node running the Cluster service started and attempted to join a cluster. An administrator might have evicted the node from an existing cluster. After a cluster node has been evicted, you must remove and reinstall the Cluster service software in order to have the node rejoin the cluster. You can find more information in the Microsoft Knowledge Base by searching on Cluster service. This message can also result when a cluster already exists with the same cluster name you have assigned to a new cluster.

User Action:

Remove and then reinstall MSCS on the affected node. If the problem is a duplicated cluster name, rename one of the clusters.
