ProfileDlgTimeOut

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System

Data type

Range

Default value

REG_DWORD

0–600 seconds

0x1E (30 seconds)

Description

Determines how long the system waits for a user response before it uses a default value.

The default value applies when the user does not respond to a message explaining that one of the following events has occurred:

  • The system detects a slow connection between users' computers and the server that stores the users' roaming user profiles.

  • The system cannot access users' server-based profiles when users log on or off.

  • Users' local profiles are newer than their server-based profiles.

This entry stores the setting of the Timeout for dialog boxes Group Policy. Group Policy adds this entry to the registry with the value you entry when you enable the policy. If you disable the policy or set it to Not configured, Group Policy deletes this entry from the registry, and the system behaves as though the value is 0x1E.

Change method

To change the value of this entry, use Group Policy. This entry corresponds to the Timeout for dialog boxes Group Policy (Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Logon). Type a decimal number between 0 and 600 for the length of the interval

Note Image Note

This entry takes precedence over a user setting. When this entry appears in the registry, a policy is in effect and the system ignores the value of the ProfileDlgTimeOut entry.
