SecurePipeServers

HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control

Description

The SecurePipeServers subkey contains the winreg subkey, which controls remote access to the registry. If these subkeys do not appear in the registry, then the permissions set in each registry subkey determine the remote access to the registry.

Change method

To view the permissions set for the SecurePipeServers subkey, use Regedt32.exe. On the Security menu, click Permissions.

Note Image Note

Remote registry security and the functions of the Secure Pipe Servers and winreg registry subkeys are included in Windows 2000 Server and Windows 2000 Professional. However, they are enabled by default only on Windows 2000 Server. If you add these subkeys to the registry of a computer running Windows 2000 Professional, it will operate as described.
