Configuring the HPC Basic Profile Web Service

Updated: April 3, 2009

Applies To: Windows HPC Server 2008

The HPC Basic Profile Web Service is installed by default on the head node of your cluster, but the service is not started by default. You can configure, activate, and start the HPC Basic Profile Web Service by using a PowerShell script that is provided with Microsoft® HPC Pack 2008. After the HPC Basic Profile Web Service has been configured and started, you can monitor it by using the Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) logging features.

For more information about how to configure, activate, and monitor the HPC Basic Profile Web Service, see the HPC Server Basic Profile Web Service Operations Guide (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=122648).

To run jobs using the HPC Basic Profile Web Service, you must also set up a client as described in Run Jobs with the HPC Basic Profile Web Service.
