Overview of BizTalk Adapter v2.0 for mySAP Business Suite
Features of the Adapter
The Adapter is designed to ease integration between existing internal or external applications that use BizTalk Server as a hub between one or more SAP application servers. The Adapter provides the following features and functionality:
Development-free access to SAP
Non-intrusive installation (does not require any custom code to be installed in SAP)
Bidirectional messaging patterns (synchronous (BAPI/ RFC) and asynchronous (IDoc)), which are described later in this paper in "Supported SAP Schema Types for Exchanging Information"
Transactional support (two-phase commit) via SAP transactional Remote Functional Call (tRFC) protocol
Components of a BizTalk-SAP Integration Solution
Figure 1 shows the high-level components of a BizTalk-SAP integration solution.

The design-time components of the Adapter include two primary features for developers:
The Schema Generation Wizard, which developers use to generate XSD schemas for BAPIs, RFCs, or IDocs.
The configuration property grid, which developers use to configure connection properties for the SAP Connector for Microsoft .NET and provide message routing information.
The run-time components, Transmitter and Receiver, communicate with the SAP system using the SAP Connector for Microsoft .NET.
The following figure shows the design-time and run-time components of the Adapter.
