Check the command-line format for the Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) command. When deleting an entry, note that Internet Protocol (IP) addresses have a dotted decimal format; the associated media access control (MAC) addresses have a 6-digit hexadecimal format with digits separated by hyphens. Verify that the address that you are deleting is valid by using the command arp -g.
