Change the time that a backup is scheduled to run

Updated: March 30, 2011

Applies To: Windows Home Server 2011

The backup process should be scheduled during a time when as few people as possible are using their networked computers. This is usually during the late evening or early morning hours. The default time for backup is 12:00am until 6:00am. The server attempts to back up client computers only during the scheduled window of time.

However, if your home is active during these traditionally off hours, you may want to change these default settings.

Note

When you change the scheduled backup time for one computer, the scheduled backup time is changed for all computers on the network.

To change the time that backup is scheduled to run

  1. Open the server Dashboard.

  2. Click the Additional client computer backup tasks in the Tasks pane.

  3. In the Additional client computer backup tasks dialog box, in the Client computer backup schedule section, you can change the start and end times to meet your needs.

  4. Click Apply, and then click OK.
