Capacity Planning for NAP Remediation Servers

Updated: February 29, 2012

Applies To: Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012, Windows Vista

For guidance on the capacity planning of remediation servers, see the documentation for the type of remediation server that you have deployed. Also consider the following questions:

  • Are remediation servers intended for use by noncompliant clients only or will they also be accessed by other computers?

  • Do remediation servers perform other functions on your network?

  • How do your health policies affect the load placed on remediation servers?

If network health requirements affect the performance of remediation servers that are also accessed by other computers, evaluate the risks and benefits of creating a separate restricted access network with dedicated remediation servers for noncompliant NAP clients.
