Joining a Configuration Set

Updated: December 30, 2008

Applies To: Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012

On the Joining a Configuration Set page, you must specify an Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services (AD LDS) instance from which to replicate the configuration and schema directory partitions for the new AD LDS instance that you are installing. The AD LDS instance that you specify on this page also determines the AD LDS configuration set in which the new AD LDS instance will participate.

ImportantImportant
If you are installing a replica AD LDS instance into an existing configuration set that includes AD LDS instances in multiple forests, use the full Domain Name System (DNS) name, rather than the IP address, when you specify the source AD LDS instance from which to replicate.
