You can use this procedure to verify, release, or renew a client address lease.

Membership in the Domain Admins group, or equivalent, is the minimum required to complete this procedure.

To verify, release, or renew a client address lease

  1. At a DHCP-enabled client computer, open a command prompt.

  2. Use the Ipconfig command-line tool to verify, release, or renew the lease of the client with a DHCP server, as follows:

    • To verify a DHCP client lease, type ipconfig to view lease-status information. Or, type ipconfig /all.

    • To release a DHCP client lease, type ipconfig /release.

    • To renew a DHCP client lease, type ipconfig /renew.
