Password-based Authentication Protocols

Applies To: Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2

Password-based authentication methods do not provide strong security and their use is not recommended. It is recommended that you use a certificate-based authentication method for all network access methods that support the use of certificates. This is especially true for wireless connections, for which the use of PEAP-MS-CHAP v2 or PEAP-TLS is recommended.
