Reporting

Planning Server has two kinds of reports: operational reports and business reports. On the Reporting page of the Planning Administration Console, you can enter a location for each type of report.
The operational reports location is where the operational reports for your Planning Server system are located. The business reports location specifies the computer that is running Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services and is the destination for the business reports exported by users.
Operational reports
Operational reports provide information about the Planning Server system, such as cycles, jobs, assignments, forms, or model associations. A Planning Server administrator can use operational reports to monitor the state of system operations.
Operational reports are authored and published by using SQL Server Reporting Services (operational reports are not authored in Planning Server). The reports can be viewed in Planning Business Modeler.
The following predefined operational reports are provided with Planning Server:
Assignments.rdl
CycleInstances.rdl
FormStatus.rdl
Jobs.rdl
ModelAssociation.rdl
Operational reports can be used for multiple Planning Server applications. Therefore, it is only necessary to specify an operational report location once.
These reports are written in Reporting Definition Language (RDL) format. After Planning Server is installed, an administrator must put the RDL files in an accessible location. After the RDL files are published to SQL Server Reporting Services, type the location of the files in the Operational reports location text box.

To set the operational reports location
In the Operational reports location text box, type the URL for the computer that is running SQL Server Reporting Services. The path that you enter must include the name of the folder that contains the reports.
Example: https://servername/ReportServer/foldername
Click Submit.
Business reports
Business reports contain financial information about your business or organization. Business reports are created in PerformancePoint Add-in for Excel, and can be used for data entry or for viewing data. The URL that you enter on the Reporting page of the Planning Administration Console is the location where business reports are published to.
Note
Often business reports are referred to simply as "reports." Operational reports, however, are always referred to as "operational reports."
To set the business reports location
In the Business reports location text box, type the URL for the location of the default SQL Server Reporting Services server for the Planning Server system.
Click Submit.
