Model sites

A model site organizes data in an application. It contains models and their related elements, such as dimensions, member sets, security settings, and business process definitions. These are used to structure business intelligence data. A model site can inherit data and structure from the root model site of the application.
Note
Each application maps to one application database and one (optional) staging database in Microsoft SQL Server. Each model site maps to one separate database in SQL Server Analysis Services.
On the Model Sites page, you can perform management tasks such as creating a model site or changing the location of a supporting Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services database. You must belong to the Global Administrator role to manage model sites in the Planning Administration Console.
To begin a model-site management task, select the parent application from the Application drop-down menu. This is the application that either contains the model site that you want to modify or delete or it is where you want to create the new model site. After you select the appropriate application, you can create, edit, or delete a model site.
