Importing a Certificate

2/9/2009

The following procedure shows you how to import a certificate for managed Windows Mobile devices. Importing a certificate adds it to a list of known certificates. After you add the certificate to the list, you can install it, or remove it, from a managed device. For information about how to install or remove certificates, see Installing a Certificate and Revoking a Certificate.

Note

If you enable the Remove unmanaged Root certificates Group Policy setting, you must import certificates to install MDM root certificates on the managed device. This makes sure that MDM root certificates will not be removed from the device root certificate store.

To import a certificate

  1. In the Group Policy Management Console, expand Group Policy Objects and locate the target GPO.

  2. Right-click the GPO and then select Edit.

  3. In the Group Policy Object Editor, expand Computer Configuration/Windows Mobile Settings.

  4. Right-click Certificates and then select Import Certificates.

  5. In the Import Certificate dialog box, type the file name of the certificate that you want to import. Or, choose Browse to search for the certificate.

  6. In the drop-down list, select the Destination Store.

  7. Choose OK. The certificate appears in the list of certificates in the details pane. The Action column will indicate Do Nothing.
