Enroll the Simulated Device with MDM

After you validate the Device Emulator connectivity, you are ready to enroll the device with MDM. To enroll the simulated device with MDM, follow these steps:

  1. Create a pre-enrollment request on the server side.
  2. Enroll the simulated device using Domain Enroll on the client side.

To create a pre-enrollment request

  1. On the MDM Enrollment Server, choose Start, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft System Center Mobile Device Manager, and then choose Mobile Device Manager Console.

  2. In the System Center Mobile Device Manager console, expand Mobile Device Manager, expand Device Management, and then choose All Managed Devices.

  3. Right-click All Managed Devices, and then choose Create Pre-Enrollment.

  4. In the Pre-Enrollment Wizard, on the Introduction page, choose Next.

  5. On the Name Device page, type the device name, and then choose Browse to select the appropriate organizational unit (OU).

  6. After you select the OU, choose Next.

  7. On the Select User page, select Active Directory user, and then choose Browse.

  8. In the Select User - Entire Forest dialog box, select the appropriate user account, and then choose OK.

  9. On the Select User page, select the Send an e-mail confirmation with enrollment password to device user check box, and then choose Next.

  10. On the Create Pre-Enrollment page, review your selections, and then choose Create.

  11. On the Completion page, press CTRL+C to copy the details of the pre-enrollment request.

  12. On the Start menu, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, and then choose Notepad.

  13. In Notepad, press CTRL+V to paste the details of the pre-enrollment request, and then save the file.

Enroll the Simulated Device

To enroll the simulated device using the Domain Enroll function, follow these steps.

To enroll the simulated device

  1. In the Device Emulator, on the Start menu, point to All Programs, point to Windows Mobile 6 SDK, point to Standalone Emulator Images, point to US English, and then choose WM 6.1 Professional, or WM 6.1 Standard.

  2. Wait for Windows Windows Mobile 6.1 to start on the Device Emulator.

  3. When the default page appears (the Today screen on Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional or the Home screen on Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard), choose Start, choose Settings, and then choose Domain Enroll.

  4. In Domain Enrollment, choose Enroll.

  5. On the screen informing you that your administrator will control access to some device features, choose Next.

  6. At the prompt, type the e-mail address that you specified when creating the pre-enrollment request, and then choose Next.

  7. On the screen informing you that domain enrollment was successful, choose Finish.
