Modifying IAG network and server settings

Updated: February 10, 2010

Applies To: Intelligent Application Gateway (IAG)

Following installation of Whale Communications Intelligent Application Gateway (IAG) 2007 you configure network and server settings using the Getting Started Wizard, and specify an encryption passphrase for the Whale Communications Intelligent Application Gateway (IAG) 2007 server. For instructions, see Configuring IAG network and server settings.

After the initial configuration, you can modify existing settings and configure additional settings as follows:

  • Modify network adapter settings.

  • Modify server settings by using the Getting Started Wizard.

  • Optionally, before publishing applications you can pre-configure IP addresses and ports for IAG networks, pre-configure HTTP and HTTPS settings, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption settings, and default Internet Information Services (IIS) ports.

  • Modify the encryption keys and passwords. The first time you access either the Configuration program or the Service Policy Manager, you are required to create an encryption key and passphrase for the IAG server. You can subsequently change this passphrase if required. In addition, the first time you access Service Policy Manager you create a password. You can subsequently modify this password if required.

To modify adapter settings

  1. In the IAG Configuration console, click Network Configuration on the Admin menu.

  2. Follow the instructions in the Network Configuration Wizard. For information about wizard settings, click Help.

You can modify the server configuration by using the Getting Started Wizard.

To modify the server configuration

  1. In the Configuration console, click Admin, and then click Getting Started Wizard.

  2. In the Getting Started Wizard, click Configure server settings. Make the necessary changes. Follow the instructions in the Server Configuration Wizard. For more information, click Help.

Before publishing applications with the Getting Started Wizard, you can preconfigure the following:

  • IP addresses and port numbers of IAG external Web sites

  • IP addresses and port numbers of application servers that will be published by IAG

  • SSL encryption settings

  • HTTP and HTTP port settings assigned to the default IIS Web site

To preconfigure IP addresses and ports

  1. Click Start, point to All Programs, click Whale Communications IAG, click Additional Tools, and then click Service Policy Manager.

  2. Expand the Built-In Services node, and then select the connection type you want to preconfigure.

  3. Specify the external Web site settings and application server settings. Note that if you want to restrict the list of IP addresses, delete the wildcard value (*.*.*.*). You can specify a single port or a port range.

  4. On the toolbar of the Configuration console, click the Activate configuration icon, and then on the Activate Configuration dialog box, click Activate. When the configuration is activated, the message "IAG configuration activated successfully" appears.

To configure SSL encryption settings

  1. In the IAG Configuration console, click SSL Configuration on the Admin menu.

  2. Set SSL cipher, algorithm, and protocol settings.

  3. On the toolbar of the Configuration console, click the Activate configuration icon, and then on the Activate Configuration dialog box, click Activate. When the configuration is activated, the message "IAG configuration activated successfully" appears.

noteNote:
For settings to take effect, you must restart the IAG server after activating the configuration.

By default, the port numbers assigned to the IIS Default Web site are 6001 for HTTP connections, and 6002 for HTTPS connections. If you are using these ports for another application, you can modify these as follows:

To modify HTTP and HTTPS port for the IIS Default Web site

  1. In the IAG Configuration console, click Advanced Configuration on the Admin menu.

  2. In Default Web Site Ports, modify the settings as required.

  3. On the toolbar of the Configuration console, click the Activate configuration icon, and then on the Activate Configuration dialog box, click Activate. When the configuration is activated, the message "IAG configuration activated successfully" appears.

You can modify your encryption passphrase. For more information about initially setting the encryption passphrase, see Configuring IAG network and server settings.

To modify the encryption passphrase

  1. Close the IAG Configuration console and the Service Policy Manager.

  2. On the IAG computer, open a command line prompt.

  3. At the command line type changepassphrase and then press the Enter key.

If you have different keys on different IAG servers and you need to unify them, do the following:

  1. Export the encryption keys by running ExportKeys.exe at the command line from the following location: \Whale-Com\e-Gap\common\bin\ExportKeys.exe.

  2. Import the key to a different IAG server by running ImportKeys.exe at the command line from the following location: \Whale-Com\e-Gap\common\bin\ImportKeys.exe.

You can modify your Service Policy Manager password as follows:

To modify the password

  1. In the Service Policy Manager console, on the Admin menu, click Change Passwords.

The Change Password dialog box is displayed.

    noteNote:
The password must contain at least six digits.
