Publishing applications in an IAG portal

Applies To: Intelligent Application Gateway (IAG)

A Whale Communications Intelligent Application Gateway (IAG) 2007 portal allows you to provide employees and partners with browser-based remote access to the internal network, multiple corporate applications, and internal file systems.

This topic describes how to use the Getting Started Wizard in order to publish applications by using a portal trunk during IAG deployment. A trunk should be created only after you have configured networks and IAG server settings. For instructions, see Configuring IAG network and server settings.

Creating a portal

The following procedure describes how to create a portal by using the Getting Started Wizard. Alternatively, you can create a portal by running the Create Trunk Wizard directly from the IAG Configuration console.

To create a portal trunk

  1. In the Getting Started Wizard, click Create Trunk.

  2. Follow the instructions in the Create Trunk Wizard.

  3. When you reach the Select Trunk Type page, click the Portal trunk option.

  4. Complete the wizard. For more information, click Help.

  5. On the Configuration console, on the toolbar, click the Activate configuration icon, and then on the Activate Configuration dialog box, click Activate. When the configuration is activated, the message "IAG configuration activated successfully" appears.

Note

In IAG Service Pack 2, you can no longer use IP addresses to define a public host name for a trunk. Use a host name instead. In addition, host names must contain at least two periods.

Publishing applications in a portal

After creating a portal trunk, publish applications in the portal as follows:

To publish applications in a portal

  1. In the Getting Started Wizard, click Publish Applications.

  2. Follow the instructions to complete the Add Application Wizard. For more information, click Help.
