Planning for access to internal resources published by IAG

Applies To: Intelligent Application Gateway (IAG)

Using Whale Communication Intelligent Application Gateway (IAG) 2007, you can allow direct access to a single Web application or Web mail server, or you can allow access to multiple internal resources by means of a portal. Portals and applications are published using an IAG transfer channel known as a trunk. Client endpoints can connect to a trunk over HTTP or HTTPS. Each trunk is divided into two channels, one incoming and one outgoing - allowing for bidirectional data flow. You can publish three kinds of trunks:

  • Portal trunk. A one-to-many connection with a single IP address used to access multiple applications published in the portal.

  • Basic trunk. A one-to-one connection where one IP address routes to a single published Web server, enabling access to any generic Web application.

  • Webmail trunk. A one-to-one connection enabling access to a single Web mail application.
