Configure WinWESS licensing

To configure WinWESS licensing, you must install the Windows PowerShell™ command line interface and client access licensing.

Warning

You must complete these tasks after you promote the server that is running WinWESS or WinWESS without Hyper-V as a domain controller at the forest root of the domain. For information about how to promote a server as a domain controller at the forest root of the domain, see “Deploying a Windows Server 2008 Forest Root Domain” at the Microsoft Web site (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=116692).

To install Windows PowerShell

  1. On the desktop, click Start, click Administrative Tools, and then click Server Manager.

  2. At the User Account Control prompt, click Continue.

  3. In the Server Manager dialog box, in the console pane, click Features.

  4. In the Features pane, click Add Features.

  5. In the Features list, select Windows PowerShell, and then click Next.

  6. On the Confirmation page, click Install.

  7. When the installation is finished, click Close.

To install client access licensing

  1. Insert the WinWESS DVD, and then, on the desktop, click Start, click All Programs, and then click Accessories.

  2. Right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.

  3. At the command prompt, type msiexec /i G:\tools\licensing\WinSB.msi /qn, and then press ENTER.

    G is the drive where you inserted the WinWESS DVD.

  4. At the command prompt, type cd C:\Windows\system32, and then press ENTER.

    C is the drive where you installed WinWESS.

  5. At the command prompt, type LicensingSetupForWinSB.cmd, and then press ENTER.
