Open Wireless Network (IEEE 802.11) Policies for Editing

Applies To: Windows Server 2008, Windows Vista

You can follow these steps to open activated Wireless Network (IEEE 802.11) Policies for editing.

Membership in Domain Admins, or equivalent, is the minimum requirement to complete this procedure.

To open activated Wireless Network (IEEE 802.11) Policies for editing

  1. On your Windows Server 2008 domain controller do one of the following:

    • If Group Policy Management Editor is already open, proceed to step 2.

    • If Group Policy Management Editor is not already open, do the following:

      1. Click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Group Policy Management. The Group Policy Management Editor Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in opens.

      2. In the left pane, double-click your forest. For example, double-click Forest: example.com.

      3. In the left pane, double-click Domains, and then double-click the domain in which you want to manage a Group Policy object (GPO). For example, double-click example.com.

      4. Right-click the GPO that you want to manage, and then click Edit. For example, right-click Default Domain Policy, and then click Edit. The Group Policy Management Editor opens.

Note

The Group Policy object that you select must be the same object that you specified when you activated the Wireless Network (IEEE 802.11) Policies.

  1. In Group Policy Management Editor, in the right pane, open Computer Configuration, open Policies, open Windows Settings, open Security Settings, and then select either Wired Network (IEEE 802.3) Policies or Wireless Network (IEEE 802.11) Policies, depending on which policies that you want to configure.

  2. In the details pane, right-click either New Vista Wireless Network Policy or New XP Wireless Network Policy, and then click Properties. The properties dialog box for the policy that you selected opens.
