Right-click menu

Right-click the Windows Home Server tray icon to display the following menu items:

  • Windows Home Server Console

Starts the Windows Home Server Console so you can configure and manage Windows Home Server.

  • Backup Now

Backs up your home computer to Windows Home Server.

  • Wake This Computer for Backup

When checked (default), your home computer wakes up automatically every day during the Backup Time to be backed up. Your computer must be on or it must be in either sleep or hibernate mode to be automatically backed up. If your computer is in sleep or hibernate mode, it wakes up and runs Backup. Afterward, an attempt is then made to return your computer to sleep or hibernate mode. Some computers will not return to either mode which may result in overheating. If this is the case with your computer, you may not want to use this option.

If you do not want your home computer to wake up automatically, click this menu item to clear it.

  • View Backup Status

Displays the backup status if your home computer is being backed up.

  • Update Password

Helps you match user-account passwords. This item is active only if the password for the user account on your home computer and the password for your Windows Home Server user account don't match. For example, this item is active if the user account on your home computer is John and the Windows Home Server user account is John, but the passwords are different.

If your passwords don't match, you are prompted to type a user name and password when you connect to a shared folder.

  • Shared Folders

Opens Windows Explorer to show the Windows Home Server shared folders.

  • Display Network Health Notifications

When checked (default), displays Windows Home Server health notifications on your home computer. If you do not want to see these notifications, click this menu item to clear it.

  • Help

  • Exit

Closes the Windows Home Server tray icon. To restart the tray icon, run:

where X is your system drive.
