Can't get Windows to Load      Dthread   |   Edit   |   Show History
Right now on my PC, when you turn it on, it automatically goes to the screen with safe mode. If you pick safe mode it scrolls through the system32\Drivers and stops with the agpCQP,sys one. The screen will not do anything else. If you try to do Normal Windows it just stays on the same screen. If you let it do the countdown to load windows normally it counts down to 0, then stops and won't go any further. I don't have a clue where to go. Any help would be much appreciated.

recently an optical wireless mouse that i have used for a few months has started to well not respond correctly with windows such as when windows loads in for the first few minutes it would i guess you could say receive false commands from the mouse because when you clicked a window it sent it to the background and the task-bar and start menu wouldn't respond and then it would work ok and every 20 min it does it again i just wanted to see if it was something to do with windows because when i put it in safe-mode it works perfectly fine without any errors of any kind

Administrator issue      ozzie3 ... Thomas Lee   |   Edit   |   Show History
I cannot get into my administrator account in Windows 7, but I can access the "guest" account for my son. When I type my password I get the following message: "The User Profile Service service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded."

Can anyone help me to remedy this problem? Nothing works where I have to enter administrator password.

I am keen to find a resolution also, we have the same problem accept we have no guest account hence we cant log in at all.

This happened to my son's gaming computer too. Only one account so no options to log in. We searched for repair ideas and finally used F8 while powering on system to get to recovery options... Then did system recovery and startup repair .

Windows 7 sleep/hybernate stops operations      mlhntr ... Thomas Lee   |   Edit   |   Show History
Hi,
when my laptop try's to go into sleep mode the display goes black but the machine stays on. I then have to hold the power button down to get it to turn off. Then start it up again, this just started lately. I'm running 32bit Windows 7 home premium. Can anyone help?

Thanks,
Ken

Is this where a person replies? When my screen goes black, I tap on the touch pad. [To shut down, click on Start button and then on "shut down." Don't shut down with the power button. Software gets messed up sometimes. Then you have to take out the battery pack for a minute so the computer reverts to an earlier use when you power it up again.] Just tap on the touch pad, to answer your question. Click the mouse or tap a key on the keyboard, maybe, if you don't use the touch pad.

Windows 7 TaskBar disappears      chuckpratt ... Stanley Roark   |   Edit   |   Show History
After upgrading from WIN XP PRO to WIN 7 HOME PREM, the taskbar sometimes disappears except for the START button. I can still use ALT-TAB to access the running applications. This is not a hidden taskbar, nor has the taskbar been relocated. Rebooting restores the taskbar. I have seen no relevant messages in the message logs. Any suggestions what is going on here or how to fix this problem?

Windows 7 startup      Cat Woman ... Thomas Lee   |   Edit   |   Show History
Occasionally when I start up Windows it does not take me directly to my desktop. It says 'preparing your desktop' (and not 'welcome' as normal) and then it creates a desktop which does not have all my icons. I usually have to log off and then back on to find my desktop. On some occasions the problem cannot be rectified other than by restoring windows to an earlier date. This is so frustrating. Can anyone help me overcome this issue. Thank you

Windows 7 Product Key Problems      scott.duede ... Thomas Lee   |   Edit   |   Show History
My laptop's hard drive crashed, so I had to replace it. The problem is that I bought the laptop with Vista already on board. I bought a 7 upgrade and installed it before the hard drive died, but now I don't have Vista to do the upgrade. I still have a valid Vista product key, though. Is there a way to get the 7 upgrade working without having to buy another Vista license, or should I just scrap 7 and turn this laptop into a Linux machine?

Webcam does not work correctly. The system will produce the new hardware connected and disconnected sound. There are no notifications in the lower right corner that typically happens on new hardware connection. Device Manager does not display any errors or unknow devices. Device Manager will refresh durning the new hardware sound. This sounds issues repeats itself every couple of minutes. I have watched every device in the device manager to see if each one is "disappearing" and "reappearing" and the devices listed in the Device Manager all stay during this "disconnect" "connect" issue.

Media player completely locks up computer      douglasCo ... Thomas Lee   |   Edit   |   Show History
I am on an Intel board, DG965WH, with a Core 2 6700 with 6gb of ram. I did a clean install of windows 7 64 bit, even formatted the drive, but anytime I try to play a video on media player it locks up the computer. The mouse doesn't lock up right away but I can click it 5 times and then it locks up. I can't open or close anything, and ctrl-alt-delete doesn't do anything either. I have to hit the power button for the machine to turn off.
Media player will play music fine and I can watch videos on Youtube using firefox.
Any ideas? This is very frustrating since I am a college student and use my computer for school. Please help!!!

WINDOW'S 7 HARWARE ISSUES ARE UNNACCEPTABLE      raylow ... Thomas Lee   |   Edit   |   Show History

All of my music production hardware, including my akai mpk49 keyboards, are NOT compatible with window's 7, as well as my mouse and my nintendo wifi connections. Its one thing if you need to update drivers for a few programs, or if 1 or two aren't avaible yet, then waiting isnt too unbearable, but gosh effing darnit it infuriates me that this is the case with ALL OF MY HARDWARE. Window's 7 is garbage, and i would have NEVER gotten it had i known that none of my devices would work with it. Good job microsoft, i hope the economy swallows you whole and mac can start lowering their prices without garbage competition. Windows used to be the bomb, now it is a sad sad excuse for an os.

I cant downgrade to xp because of Win7 RC!!!      Juggernaut6980 ... Thomas Lee   |   Edit   |   Show History
Hi I have a major issue with Windows 7 Ultimate RC 32-bit . I received a copy of this OS through a PC magazine and decided to install it. I made sure that this OS was not installed on the same drive as my XP version was (used a partition). The install was relatively smooth and I didn't bother checking that my XP OS was there for obvious reasons (shouldn't need to if its on a different drive). I am the only one who uses this PC so no one else deleted it by the way. When the time came for the March cut-off date for the RC I was all prepared to downgrade back to XP when I noticed something quite disturbing. My XP OS had vanished from the D drive. So naturally I thought hey why not just put in the XP restore disk? should work shouldn't it? ran the disk and the window came up but the INSTALL WINDOWS XP option wasn't available. So feeling a little bit disappointed I tried booting the disk from the boot setup screen (after restarting) and was even more disturbed when I found the boot screen would not respond because it was all 'chopped up' like someone had shredded paper, put it back together but missed out bits. Feeling quite worried at this time, I decided to find the disk of which I had installed this Windows 7 Ultimate RC OS and try that. I went through the install process trying to uninstall Windows 7 but of course it wouldn't let me because there would be no OS on the hard drive. Well done Microsoft. I'm guessing that people's recommendations would be to get a final release version of Windows 7. I live in New Zealand where Windows 7 Home Premium costs $300 (NZD) and Ultimate costs around $700 which I am not prepared to pay if I already have XP SP3 which is more reliable anyway. Microsoft, could you please help me out?

Denied acces to XP mode      Jhampa ... Thomas Lee   |   Edit   |   Show History
I have loaded XP mode correctly and it is there 'hibernating'. I cant get it to wake up. When i do a fresh boot of Win 7 it says I am not eligible to access XP mode. I am the administrator, i have everything enabled. I have spend several hours reading all the material on this. No clues. I have checked the BIOS, it is enabled. I checked users and i have full access. Must be somewhere I have not checked something. Any suggestions appreciated.

Language trouble.      biker denmark ... Thomas Lee   |   Edit   |   Show History

Burn Windows 7 from image to dvd and get it going. A couple of choices but then. You can not upgrade because you have a different language. This english Windows 7 can not cope with my danish version of Windows Vista. I am gonna give up and keep my dirtbag of Vista a little while. Cry. Windows Vista is not working, Windows 7 can not be used so I am thinking about dropping everything with the name Windows. Sorry but no good.

Poor      BSmith2447 ... Thomas Lee   |   Edit   |   Show History
I went from Vista home Premium to 7 Pro on a Toshiba Qosmio. When I try to reload software it says the liscence seat is not valid, it has not picked up the graphics cards there is no control of the finger pad. I paid almost $200. for this and it looks like i will have to rebuy almost a $1000 in lost software. This is extremely POOR for 200 I expected better interface with files and drivers. I am very disgusted, wish I had never bout it and it appears I am unable to restore back to Vista

Windows media player 11 consuming unecessary resources in WIN7(built 7100)      conty911 ... Stanley Roark   |   Edit   |   Show History
My computer Hardware specs is
AMD PHENOM II 940 @ 3200Mhz X 4 cores
3 GB RAM (DDRR-2 Cl-5 800 mhz)
512 MB ram (ATI radeon 4850)
1Gbe (ethernet)
ALC 889 A (Digital Dolby compatible) Realtek Onboard Sound Codec Chip.

When ever i uses WMP 11 in win 7 for listening to songs , it is nearly consuming 20-25% of my CPU even without any visualizations and animations. This doesnt occur when i use other 3rd party players like VLC , Jetaudio , Winamp etc.
I love WMP but its wasting my resources and power (wattage) of CPU for just playing simple mp3 songs..WTH!!!!

I get an error when I try to do the upgrade scenario (vs. the clean install) that states that it can't upgrade from a 32-bit operating system to a 64-bit operating system, which is obviously incorrect. I'm 100% sure I'm running Windows Vista 64 with a Quad-core extreme and other appropriate hardware

Beta Expiration applies to installed Windows 7 RC      Limerick ... Thomas Lee   |   Edit   |   Show History
I currently have the RC of Windows 7 installed, I had the beta prior to this installation. When I upgraded from the beta I performed a complete wipe and clean install. Two weeks ago, expiration warnings began to appear, and I am now affected by the bihourly shutdowns of the beta. I have entered a couple different RC product keys, neither have helped. Why would the timer from the beta carry over to the RC?
